1. Read Galatians 5:16-17. What does Paul says is going on in the heart of every believer? What is encouraging about this truth? What is challenging?
2. Should we expect that kind of internal battling? Is it a sign that something is wrong or that something is right?
3. Read Galatians 5:19-21. Look at the “acts of the sinful nature”. Which of these is most common and acceptable in our culture? Pick out two or three and think about how they are consequences of “over-desire”.
4. Read Galatians 5:22-23. Which of these fruit of the Spirit are least noticed and celebrated within the church?
5. Pick a couple of aspects of the fruit of the Spirit from Galatians 5:22-23. How are these things the product of believing the gospel? How do they respect others-centered serving in love (refer to Galatians 5:13-14).
6. What is our part in producing these qualities? What is the Spirit’s part? (Galatians 5:18,22,25).
