1. How does our culture inform us what is virtuous and good?
2. Read Matthew 23:5-7. How did the Pharisees signal their virtue?
3. Read Matthew 22:34-40. How did Jesus define virtue? How does that compare with how the Pharisees understood it?
4. Why do you think its so hard for us to accept Jesus’ definition over the Pharisee’s and our culture’s definition?
5. Consider this statement: “Idolatry is when we love something (even a good thing) more than God.” What are some GOOD things that become ultimate things?
6. Does your soul delight and desire God?
7. This week, read Ps 42:1-2 once every day. Commit it to memory.
