1. Read Mark 8:34. If this was Jesus’ sales pitch to you— do you find that engaging or off-putting. Why?
2. Pastor Scott compared a Fan with a Follower. Can you think of anything in your life that you would be a fan of (a sports team, a product, a celebrity?) how is that different than being a follower? What is implied by being a follower?
3. Read Mark 8:31-33.  What was shocking to Peter? How did he react?
4. In your life, what is an active way you can deny yourself and take up your cross as you follow Christ?
5. Have you ever been baptized? Why would someone not want to be baptized? What does that have to do with this conversation?
