  1. Can you think of a vacation or trip STOP ALONG THE WAY that became even more memorable than the trip itself?
  2. Read Mark 1:14-15. Jesus’ regular message was the coming of the Kingdom of God. Why do you think this was good news. How was it good news to these ancient jews? How is it good news to us 2000 years later?
  3. Read Mark 2:3-5. Jesus recognized THEIR faith…. how did the group of friends demonstrate faith?
  4. Why do you think Jesus’ response in vs 5 was shocking?
  5. If you were the paralyzed man, how would you have experienced Jesus declaration of forgiveness?
  6. Read Mark 2:6. Was it wrong or right for the teachers of the law to object to Jesus’ statements? Why or why not?
  7. Ancient Jews often believed if something is wrong with you, it’s because you did something wrong. Have you ever experienced anyone today thinking that way?
  8. Read Mark 2:10.
  9. Consider your greatest regret: do you have a hard time forgiving yourself for this? How does this lesson inform how we can think of ourself?
  10. How did this healing affect the daily life of the paralytic?
